Youtube have their own faq.
How ewer my prefere settings for 2 programs i use..


Windows Movie Maker (Vista Edition)
When selecting produce video.

first page select save location,
secound page select "more options" depending on language.

Then select "Windoes Media HD720p (PAL) (5.9 Mbps)

That will enabled HD format on youtube after uploaded
it can take sometimes more than 24hours for youtube to
actually enable the HD botton on the website,


Adobe Premiere CS3
When done, in the File > Export > select "adobe media encoder"
dont export as movie..

Settigns to have in the media encoder is (summary)

Format : Mpeg2
Range : Entire Sequence
Preset : Costum youtube 720p (remember to save ur settings)
Export video - check | Export audio - check
-------------------------------------------
PAL,1080x720x25{fps}, Progressive, quality 5.0
384{kbps}, 44.1kHz, 16 bit, Sterio, MPEG
VBR, 2pass, Min 4.00, Target 10.00, Max 18.50[Mbps]

With those settings which is quite high for youtube
but safe, you should be all set.

It will take some time for the movies to render, just go do something else while waiting,
using the computer CAN just prolong the process.

Okay now ewen though i encode with premiere first
then i run it through movie maker aftwards takes off around 50%
filesize without huge reduction in quality.

you can see the difference when compareing the two
but if u only see the small file, you wouldnt know.
